Trishuli (Grade 3/4+) Just a few hours’ drive from Kathmandu this “pool and drop” river is a great way to get a taste for white-water adventure, fit a rafting trip into your tight schedule or break up your long bus journey to Pokhara, Chitwan or back to Kathmandu. Trips from 1 to 4 days.
Marsyandi (Grade 4+/5+) Known locally as the “raging river” it has been described as the best white water experience in the world. Not for the faint hearted but well worth the adrenaline rush you’ll get tantalizing vies of the Himalayas while you tackle the many great rapids. Trips from 2 to 3 days.
Bhote Kosi (Grade 4/5) A really wild ride! Fast, fun, thrilling and just a short hop from Kathmandu. This river flows through one of the most beautiful gorges on Earth. Trips from 1 to 2 days.
Sun Kosi (Grade 4-/5) Listed as one of the top ten classic river journeys this trip takes you from the mountains to the dusty Indian Plains. A thrilling way to experience Nepal and some of the biggest waves in commercial rafting. Trips from 8 to 10 days season depending.
Seti Khola (Grade 3/4) With slightly warmer water, amazing scenery and a great variety of bird life this is a beautiful river. The excitement comes from negotiating the many gentle rapids along the way. This is a great trip for families and can be run with younger children (minimum age 4 years). Trips from 2 to 3 days.
Kali Gandaki (Grade 4/4+) Tackle one of the best loved rivers in Nepal with some of the wildest rapids. A 3 to 4 hour picturesque drive from Pokhara, this is a holy river known for its beautiful deep gorges, pretty villages and waterfalls. You may even catch a glimpse of the stunning Annapurna’s. Trips from 3 to 5 days.
Karnali (Grade 4+) Described by experienced white water enthusiasts as Nepal’s “must do” river, it carves its way from the Tibetan Plateau to the lush forests of western Nepal. Trip is 9 days from Pokhara or 10 days from Kathmandu and includes a stay in Bardia National Park.
Fancy combining a little trekking with some world class rafting, then the Tamur (Grade 4+/5) maybe for you. A two days walk to the river through traditional Nepali villages and then 7 days tackling magnificent rapids. What more could you ask for?
