Karnali (Grade 4+)
Described by experienced white water enthusiasts as Nepal’s “must do” river, it carves its way from the Tibetan Plateau to the lush forests of western Nepal. This trip is 9 days from Pokhara or 10 days from Kathmandu.
Day 1: We leave Kathmandu at around 7.00am and spend all day travelling by bus to Kaulpur, where we stay overnight.
Day 2: After breakfast we depart at around 8.00am for Dungeswar, our river starting point. Depending on the time we will either camp here or paddle and camp futher down river.
Day 3-8: We spend our days rafting for about 5-6 hours taking on exciting rapids, enjoying a leisurely lunch and looking at the magnificent landscape. Finally we camp under the stars surrounded by the sounds of rural Nepal.
Day 9: Our last day on the river takes us to our destination, Bardia National Park. Here we spend the night in a hotel in the park.
Day 10: Transport back to Kathmandu.
